Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Lā Yuṣadda‘ūn): They will not suffer from headache or migraine as a result of drinking.
  • عَنْهَا (‘Anhā): From it — meaning, from that wine.
(Wa Lā Yunzifūn): Their intellects will not be impaired, nor will they become intoxicated. Some scholars also interpret it as: their wine supply will never run out or diminish.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse continues the description of the bliss that the righteous will enjoy in Paradise, specifically focusing on the nature of the pure drink that will be served to them. Unlike the wine of this world, which brings about headaches, loss of reason, and regret, the wine of Paradise is entirely free from these harmful effects. The believers will drink from it in abundance, yet their heads will never ache, their minds will remain perfectly clear, and they will never become intoxicated or lose their composure. This is a profound mercy from Allah — that He grants His servants pure enjoyment without any of the negative consequences that accompany worldly pleasures. It also highlights the perfection of Paradise: every delight is purified, every joy is complete, and nothing tarnishes the happiness of its inhabitants. The verse reassures the believer that the pleasures of the Hereafter are not merely an extension of worldly pleasures, but a completely transformed, elevated experience that brings lasting contentment without any harm.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear Muslim, reflect on this beautiful promise! Allah, the Most Merciful, has described the bliss that awaits His righteous servants in such vivid detail that the heart yearns for it. The wine of Paradise is a gift of pure joy — no headaches, no loss of mind, no regret. This is the generosity of your Lord, who knows exactly what brings true happiness to His creation. So, strive for this Paradise! Let this description motivate you to increase your good deeds, to purify your intentions, and to remain steadfast on the path of righteousness. Every act of obedience, every prayer, every charity, and every kind word brings you closer to this eternal bliss. Do not let the fleeting pleasures of this world distract you from the everlasting joy that awaits. The companions of the right hand — those who will drink from this pure wine — are those who lived their lives in submission to Allah, who feared Him in private and public, and who longed for His meeting. Ask yourself: am I among them? If not, now is the time to change, to turn back to Allah, and to earn a place in His eternal garden. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy is vast — He welcomes those who return to Him with sincere hearts. May Allah make us among those who drink from the pure wine of Paradise and enjoy its everlasting bliss.

📜 Verse 17-21 — Al-Waqi'ah

There will circulate among them young boys made eternal
With vessels, pitchers and a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring -
No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated -
And fruit of what they select
And the meat of fowl, from whatever they desire.
