Surah Al-Hadid — Verse 11

This noble verse is a divine call, filled with mercy and generosity, inviting every believer to a remarkable transaction. Allah, the Owner of all treasures, presents Himself as the Borrower — not out of need, but out of love for His servants, to elevate their ranks and multiply their provisions.

The verse asks: *"Who is it that will lend Allah a goodly loan?"* This is not a literal loan, for Allah is the Most Rich, free of all needs. Rather, it is an invitation to spend in His cause — whether in charity, supporting the needy, building masjids, or any act of goodness — with a sincere heart, seeking only His pleasure, without any desire for worldly praise or repayment.

The "goodly loan" means spending from the best of one's wealth, not from what is worthless or unwanted, and doing so with a cheerful soul, free from arrogance, self-praise, or hurting the recipients. It is the giving of someone who truly believes that Allah is the Provider and that whatever they give is merely a trust from Him.

Then comes the divine promise: *"He will multiply it for him."* Imagine a merchant who doubles your investment — but here, Allah, the Most Generous, multiplies the reward from tenfold to seven hundredfold, and even more, as He wills. Every penny spent in His path is recorded, preserved, and returned with immense growth, both in this life (through blessings and contentment) and in the Hereafter.

And finally: *"And for him is a generous reward."* This is not just multiplication — it is a reward described as "karim" (generous, noble), which includes Allah's pleasure, the love of the angels, and the ultimate prize: Paradise, where rivers flow and delights never end. This reward is not merely compensation; it is an honor bestowed upon the believer, a sign of Allah's acceptance and love.

Dear believer, look at this beautiful invitation! The King of all kings, the Owner of everything, is asking *you* — not because He needs your wealth, but because He wants to give you the opportunity to draw closer to Him and to secure your future in the Hereafter. He could have taken everything from you without asking, but instead, He calls you to lend Him, promising to repay you with multiplied blessings and a reward beyond imagination.

So when you give charity, support an orphan, feed a hungry person, or help a struggling family — know that you are not losing anything. You are investing in a transaction with the Most Generous, who never breaks His promise. Let this verse inspire you to be generous, to give from the best of what you have, and to do so with a smile and a sincere heart. For every act of giving is a seed you plant today, and its harvest will be reaped in the gardens of Paradise, where you will find your reward waiting for you — generous, complete, and everlasting.
