Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "يُرْسِلِ السَّمَاءَ" — He will send the sky; meaning, He will send down rain from the sky.
  • "مِدْرَارًا" — Abundantly pouring, continuous and heavy rainfall that comes one after another without interruption.

Tafsir (Explanation):

In this blessed verse, Allah — through His Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) — delivers a profound promise to his people. The meaning is: If you turn to your Lord in sincere repentance and seek His forgiveness, He will respond to you by sending down from the sky abundant, continuous rain that pours forth generously, quenching the earth and ending any drought or hardship you face. The word "midrār" emphasizes that this rain is not a single, brief shower, but a persistent and repeated outpouring — a mercy that arrives time after time, whenever you are in need.

This is a divine invitation wrapped in compassion. Allah is not threatening His servants with destruction; rather, He is opening the doors of His mercy wide, showing that the path to worldly blessings begins with spiritual correction. The connection between seeking forgiveness and receiving sustenance is a recurring theme in the Qur'an — when hearts turn back to their Creator, the heavens respond with blessings, and the earth brings forth its treasures.

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, reflect on the beauty of this promise! Your Lord does not ask you for wealth or status as a condition for His blessings. He simply asks you to turn to Him, to acknowledge your shortcomings, and to seek His pardon. In return, He pledges to open the gates of the sky for you — not just with rain, but with provision, peace, and prosperity in ways you may not even imagine.

This verse carries a timeless lesson for every believer: no matter how far you have strayed, no matter how long you have neglected your duties, the door of repentance is always open. And when you knock on that door, you will find that your Lord not only forgives you but also showers you with blessings that transform your life. The rain of His mercy is not limited to the clouds — it falls upon your heart, your home, your livelihood, and your entire existence.

So, hasten to your Lord with a sincere heart. Seek His forgiveness daily, and watch how He opens doors of provision and ease that you never thought possible. For indeed, the One who controls the clouds and the rain is the same One who controls every affair of your life — and He is ever ready to respond to those who call upon Him.
