Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Nadheer (نَذِيرٌ): A warner who alerts people to a danger before it strikes, urging them to take precaution.
- Mubeen (مُبِينٌ): Clear, evident, and unmistakable — leaving no room for ambiguity or excuse.
Explanation of the Verse:
Prophet Nuh (peace be upon him) addressed his people with the gentle and compassionate call of a true guide: "O my people!" — a phrase that reflects his deep love and concern for them, not arrogance or detachment. He then declared: "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner." This means he was not speaking in riddles or hidden signs; his mission was transparent and his message was plain. He came to warn them of a severe punishment from Allah if they persisted in their disbelief and disobedience. His warning was not a threat born of personal grudge, but a mercy — a final chance to turn back before the inevitable consequence of their actions would overtake them. He made it absolutely clear that he was a messenger from Allah, and that the path to safety lay in worshipping Allah alone, fearing His punishment, and obeying the guidance he brought. The clarity of his warning left no excuse for ignorance, for he laid out the truth plainly, calling them to repentance and salvation.
Da'wah Reflection:
How beautiful is the example of Nuh (peace be upon him)! He did not begin with harshness or condemnation, but with the warm address of a caring father: "O my people!" This teaches us that the call to Allah must be rooted in love and sincerity, not in superiority or anger. The Prophet's warning was "clear" — meaning he did not hide the truth or soften it to please anyone. He spoke the truth with courage, even when it was difficult. This is the essence of Islamic da'wah: to convey the message of Allah with clarity, compassion, and unwavering honesty. When we share Islam with others, we should remember that we are not here to judge or belittle, but to warn and guide — just as Nuh did. And the reward for such sincere effort is not only in this world but in the eternal bliss of the Hereafter. Let us strive to be clear warners in our own circles, calling others to the path of Allah with wisdom and beautiful preaching, so that we may share in the legacy of the Prophets.
