Word Meanings:

  • Khati'atihim (خَطِيئَاتِهِمْ): Their sins, errors, and deliberate wrongdoings.
  • Ughriqu (أُغْرِقُوا): They were drowned (in the great flood).
  • Udkhilu (أُدْخِلُوا): They were made to enter.
  • Ansaran (أَنصَارًا): Helpers, protectors, or saviors.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse reveals the tragic end of the people of Nuh (Noah) peace be upon him, and it stands as a timeless lesson for all of humanity. Because of their persistent sins, their stubborn rejection of the truth, and their arrogance in the face of clear divine warnings, they were drowned in the great flood that overwhelmed them in this world. Their drowning was not merely a natural disaster—it was the direct consequence of their own choices, as they had been warned repeatedly by their prophet for centuries.

Immediately after their drowning, they were made to enter a blazing Fire—a punishment that began right after their death, not delayed until the Day of Judgment. This shows the severity of their crime and the immediacy of divine justice for those who persist in disbelief and corruption.

Then comes the most striking part: "They found no helpers besides Allah." In their moment of utter desperation, when the waves engulfed them and death was certain, they looked for anyone—any power, any deity, any intercessor—to save them. But they found nothing. The idols they had worshipped, the leaders they had followed, the wealth and children they had boasted about—none of these could protect them or even delay their fate for a single moment.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, pause and reflect on this scene. These people had everything—power, resources, and followers—yet when the decree of Allah came, all of that became worthless. The One who created them, sustained them, and sent them a prophet to guide them was the only One who could save them, but they had turned away from Him.

This verse carries a profound message for us today: No sin is too great to repent from, but no sin is too small to be ignored. The people of Nuh were not destroyed for a single mistake—they were destroyed for their persistence in wrongdoing and their refusal to turn back to their Lord, even after countless opportunities.

The good news is that Allah's mercy is vast and open to all who seek it. Unlike the people of Nuh who faced the flood, we have the chance—right now, in this very moment—to turn to Allah, to seek His forgiveness, and to reform our lives. The door of repentance is open until the moment of death, and Allah loves those who turn back to Him.

Let this verse be a wake-up call: Do not wait until the waves of calamity surround you to seek Allah. Seek Him now, in times of ease, so that He may be with you in times of hardship. And remember—there is no helper, no protector, and no savior besides Him. Make Him your ally today, and you will never be left without support, in this life or the next.

📜 Verse 23-27 — Nuh

And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.
And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."
Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.
And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.
Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.
