Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Arā'ik (الأرائك): The plural of *arīkah*, which refers to luxurious couches or thrones adorned with beautiful furnishings, upon which one reclines in comfort and honor.
Tafsir (Explanation):
In this verse, Allah describes the blissful state of the believers on the Day of Judgment, contrasting it with the humiliation of the wicked mentioned in the preceding verses. The believers are seated upon ornate, elevated couches—symbols of honor, rest, and supreme dignity—gazing upon the wonders of Paradise and the boundless generosity their Lord has bestowed upon them. Among the greatest of these sights is the vision of their Lord’s noble Face, a blessing that surpasses every other delight of Paradise. From their lofty positions, they also look upon the disbelievers suffering in the Fire, witnessing with their own eyes the justice of Allah and the fulfillment of His promise. This scene is not one of malice but of profound gratitude and awe, as they realize the vast difference between the fate of the righteous and the wicked. The verse invites every soul to reflect: if the believers are honored in this way, was not the punishment of the disbelievers a perfectly fitting recompense for their deeds of evil and transgression in the worldly life?
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a radiant beacon of hope for every believer. It paints a vivid picture of the ultimate success that awaits those who strive in the path of Allah with sincerity and patience. Imagine reclining on thrones of light, gazing upon the beauty of Paradise, and—most gloriously—beholding the Face of your Creator. This is not a distant dream; it is a promise from the One who never breaks His word. Let this image fill your heart with longing and your deeds with purpose. Every prayer you offer, every kindness you show, every temptation you resist is a step closer to that eternal couch of honor. And let the contrast with the fate of the disbelievers serve as a gentle, loving warning: the choices we make today shape the scenery of our tomorrow. Choose the path that leads to the Arā'ik of Paradise, and let your heart find rest in the certainty of Allah’s reward.
