Word Meanings:
- ثُوِّبَ (Thuwwiba): Was rewarded or recompensed, meaning they were given the full due of their deeds.
- الْكُفَّارُ (Al-Kuffar): The disbelievers who rejected the truth and mocked the believers.
- مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ (Ma kanu yaf'alun): What they used to do — referring to their evil deeds, mockery, and persecution of the believers in the worldly life.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse concludes the scene of the believers on the Day of Judgment, where they are seated on luxurious couches, gazing upon the glory and honor Allah has bestowed upon them — the greatest of which is the vision of their Lord's noble Face. In that moment of supreme bliss, the question is posed: "Have the disbelievers been fully recompensed for what they used to do?" The answer is an emphatic yes — they have received the exact and fitting punishment for their deeds in this world. Their mockery of the believers, their denial of the truth, and their persistence in sin have all been met with a humiliating torment in Hellfire. This is divine justice in its most perfect form: every act of evil they committed has been repaid in full, with no injustice and no shortcoming.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, ponder this magnificent scene! The believers who were once ridiculed, oppressed, and looked down upon in this world are now honored in the highest ranks of Paradise, while their mockers face the consequences of their arrogance. This is the promise of Allah — a promise that never fails. It teaches us that no matter how difficult life becomes for the believers, their ultimate victory and reward are certain. It also serves as a stern warning to those who reject the truth and mock the faithful: do not be deceived by the temporary pleasures and apparent success of this world, for the Day of Recompense is coming, and on that Day, every soul shall be repaid exactly for what it has earned. Embrace the truth now, before that Day arrives, and strive to be among those who are honored in the presence of their Lord. Indeed, Allah's justice is perfect, His promise is true, and His reward for the righteous is beyond imagination.
