Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • "Wa adhinat": Listened and obeyed attentively; submitted willingly to the command.
  • "Li Rabbiha": To its Lord (Allah), the Creator and Sustainer.
  • "Wa huqqat": It is rightfully due; it is fitting and proper for it to do so.

Explanation of the Verse:

On the Day of Judgment, the sky will be torn apart and split open with clouds, and in that moment it will listen to its Lord with full submission and obedience. It will respond to His command to break apart, and it is entirely fitting and right for the sky to obey its Creator, for He is the One who brought it into existence and governs it with perfect wisdom. This obedience is not forced or reluctant—it is the natural, inherent response of all creation to its Maker, who deserves absolute compliance. The verse emphasizes that the sky's submission is not only possible but necessary and appropriate, as everything in existence is under Allah's complete control and willingly follows His decree.

Da'wah Reflection:

This verse invites us to reflect on the profound relationship between the Creator and His creation. If the vast sky—with all its majesty and grandeur—humbly submits to its Lord's command, how much more should we, as human beings endowed with intellect and free will, willingly surrender to Allah? The sky's obedience is instinctive and automatic, but our obedience is a conscious choice that carries immense reward. When we see the universe around us—the heavens, the earth, the stars, and the seas—all in perfect harmony with their Creator's will, we are reminded that true peace and fulfillment lie in aligning ourselves with that same divine order. Let this verse inspire you to listen to your Lord's guidance, to submit to His commands with love and trust, and to recognize that this submission is not a burden but a privilege—for it is the very purpose for which you were created. Indeed, it is only right and fitting that we, too, answer our Lord's call with open hearts and willing spirits.
