- Dīn al-Ḥaqq (دِينِ الْحَقِّ): The religion of truth — meaning Islam, the true religion revealed by Allah.
- Li-yuẓhirahu (لِيُظْهِرَهُ): So that He may make it prevail and elevate it above all others.
- Al-Mushrikūn (الْمُشْرِكُونَ): Those who associate partners with Allah in worship.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Exalted, declares that He alone is the One who sent His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) with two great gifts: Al-Hudā — the Qur'an, which is the ultimate source of guidance for humanity, illuminating the path to truth and righteousness — and Dīn al-Ḥaqq — the religion of Islam, which is the complete and final way of life that Allah has chosen for His servants.
The purpose of this sending is profound and far-reaching: to make this religion prevail and rise above all other religions. This is not merely a wish or a hope, but a divine promise and decree. Allah will cause Islam to triumph over every other belief system, whether through clear proofs and compelling evidence, through the establishment of justice and truth in the earth, or through the final victory of the believers. The Qur'an and Islam carry within them the power of conclusive arguments, sound reasoning, and divine legislation that no other system can match.
And all of this will happen even if the polytheists detest it. Their hatred, opposition, and attempts to extinguish this light will never succeed, for Allah's will shall prevail regardless of their wishes. The verse carries a powerful reassurance to the believers: do not be discouraged by the opposition of the disbelievers, for Allah's promise is certain, and His support for His religion is guaranteed.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a source of immense hope and strength for every Muslim. It reminds us that Islam is not just another religion among many — it is the truth that Allah Himself has promised to elevate. The Prophet (peace be upon him) was sent with a message that transcends time and place, and its ultimate victory is a divine certainty. This should fill our hearts with pride in our faith and motivate us to carry its message with confidence and wisdom. When we see challenges facing Muslims today, we must remember that Allah's promise remains true: this religion will prevail, not through our own strength, but through Allah's decree. Our duty is to hold firmly to the Qur'an and the authentic Sunnah, to embody the beauty of Islam in our character, and to share its message with kindness and clarity — trusting that Allah will fulfill His promise in His perfect timing. Let this verse be a source of steadfastness, for the victory of truth is inevitable, and the hatred of the disbelievers can never alter what Allah has willed.
