Tafsir (Explanation):
O Messenger of Allah, your heart may feel heavy and your soul may be troubled by the persistent rejection and stubbornness of your people. You might even be tempted to leave out some of what has been revealed to you—especially that which they find hard to accept—hoping to soften their hearts or avoid their harsh reactions. The disbelievers of Makkah, in their arrogance, demanded extraordinary signs, saying: "Why has a treasure not been sent down to him from his Lord? Why has an angel not come with him to confirm his message?" They made these demands not out of sincere seeking of truth, but out of obstinacy and mockery.
Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, reassures His beloved Prophet: Do not let their words constrict your chest or cause you to abandon any part of what has been revealed to you. Your duty is not to produce miracles or treasures—your duty is simply to deliver the message and warn. You are a warner, and your task is clear: convey what has been sent down to you, and leave the rest to Allah. He is the Guardian over all things; He knows their hearts, He sees their schemes, and He will deal with them with perfect justice and wisdom.
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: the mission of conveying the truth is not dependent on people's acceptance or rejection. The Prophet ﷺ was not responsible for their belief—only for delivering the message with sincerity and patience. Likewise, we, as followers of this final revelation, must understand that our role is to invite with wisdom and beautiful preaching, not to despair when people reject the truth or demand signs that are not ours to give. Allah is the One who guides whom He wills, and He is fully aware of all that happens.
The comfort in this verse is immense: when you feel the weight of the mission, when people mock or demand impossible things, remember that you are only a warner. The outcome belongs to Allah alone. He is the Wakil—the Trustee who manages all affairs with perfect wisdom. So trust Him, deliver the message, and find peace in knowing that your duty is simple and your reward is with your Lord.
