Surah Hud — Verse 13

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse addresses the stubborn denial of the polytheists of Makkah, who claimed that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) had invented the Qur'an himself, rather than it being a revelation from Allah. Allah responds to their false accusation with a profound and eternal challenge, saying: "If you truly believe this Qur'an is a human fabrication, then bring just ten chapters (sūrahs) of similar quality—fabricated by your own hands, without any claim to divine truth—and call upon anyone you can, besides Allah, to assist you in this task, if you are indeed truthful in your claim."

The challenge is deliberately set at ten chapters—a number far smaller than the entire Qur'an—to make the test even easier for them. Yet, despite their eloquence, their mastery of Arabic rhetoric, and their access to poets and soothsayers, they were utterly incapable of meeting this challenge. This impossibility stands as a living, eternal proof that the Qur'an is not the work of any human being, but the very Word of Allah, the Lord of all worlds.

The verse also exposes the weakness of their position: if they were honest in their accusation, they would have eagerly attempted this challenge.
