Translation — Tafsir

Key Words and Their Meanings:

  • "Ni'mat Allah" (the Blessing of Allah): The great favors bestowed by Allah, specifically here referring to the security of the Sacred Sanctuary (al-Haram) in Makkah and the sending of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as a mercy to mankind.
  • "Kufran" (in exchange for disbelief): Replacing gratitude with ingratitude; rejecting the very blessings that were given.
  • "Dar al-Bawar" (the Abode of Destruction): The place of utter ruin and perdition — referring to Hellfire, and also to the humiliation and destruction they faced in this world at the Battle of Badr.

The Tafsir (Explanation):

Have you not seen, O noble reader, the state of those who exchanged Allah's blessings for disbelief? These were the disbelievers of Quraysh, upon whom Allah had showered immense favors: they were granted safety and security in the Sacred Sanctuary, a land of peace where no one dared to harm them, and they were honored with the greatest blessing of all — the sending of the Final Messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him), from among them, to guide them from darkness into light.

Yet, instead of receiving this blessing with gratitude, humility, and submission, they met it with rejection and arrogance. They denied the very Messenger who was sent as a mercy to them, and they opposed his call with hostility. They traded the light of guidance for the darkness of disbelief, and they exchanged the sweetness of faith for the bitterness of denial.

Not only did they harm themselves, but they also led their followers and their people astray, dragging them along the path of ruin. By their stubbornness and their aggression against the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions, they brought their people to the brink of destruction. They took them to the battlefield of Badr, where Allah granted victory to His believing servants and humiliated the disbelievers. Many of them were killed, and for those who survived, the ultimate destination awaits — the Fire of Hell, the abode of eternal ruin and loss. What a terrible place to settle, and what an evil end for those who reject their Lord's favors!

A Call to Reflection and Gratitude:

Dear reader, pause and reflect deeply upon this profound lesson. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has blessed you with countless favors — the gift of Islam, the gift of the Qur'an, the gift of security, health, and provision. How do you respond to these blessings? Do you receive them with gratitude and obedience, or do you, like those mentioned in the verse, exchange them for ingratitude and disobedience?

The tragedy of those people was not that they lacked blessings, but that they misused them. They had the greatest opportunity — the Prophet (peace be upon him) was among them — yet they rejected him. Today, you too hold a great treasure: the Qur'an and the Sunnah are in your hands. Will you cherish them, or will you turn away?

Let this verse be a wake-up call for every soul. Gratitude for Allah's blessings is not merely a word on the tongue; it is a life of obedience, a heart filled with love for Allah, and actions that reflect that love. Do not let yourself be among those who trade Paradise for the Fire, and eternal bliss for eternal loss. Embrace the blessings of Allah with a grateful heart, and let your life be a testimony to His greatness. For indeed, the one who is grateful receives more, while the one who is ungrateful loses everything — in this world and the next.

📜 Verse 26-30 — Ibrahim

And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability.
Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allah does what He wills.
Have you not considered those who exchanged the favor of Allah for disbelief and settled their people [in] the home of ruin?
[It is] Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the settlement.
And they have attributed to Allah equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy yourselves, for indeed, your destination is the Fire."
