Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Tazāwaru (تَزَاوَرُ): To incline or bend away, to lean aside.
- Taqriḍuhum (تَقْرِضُهُمْ): To leave them aside, to pass by them, turning away from them.
- Fajwah (فَجْوَةٍ): An open, spacious area within the cave.
Tafsir (Explanation):
Imagine standing before that cave and witnessing a breathtaking scene: as the sun rises in the east, its rays gracefully incline away from the cave toward the right, never touching the sleeping youths. And when the sun sets in the west, it passes them by, turning toward the left, leaving them in gentle shade. They lie in a spacious opening within the cave, where a refreshing breeze reaches them, and neither the scorching heat of the day nor the chill of direct sunlight disturbs their peaceful slumber.
This was no coincidence—it was a divine arrangement, one of the magnificent signs of Allah’s power and care. He who had commanded them to seek refuge in that cave also commanded the very sun to serve them, shielding them from harm while they slept for centuries.
Reflect on this: the One who controls the sun, the moon, and the stars also controls the hearts of His servants. If you turn to Him sincerely, He will make the universe accommodate you in ways you never imagined.
Then Allah draws the ultimate lesson: "Whoever Allah guides, he is the truly guided; and whoever He lets go astray, you will never find for him a protecting guide." Guidance is not a product of intelligence, wealth, or effort alone—it is a gift from Allah, granted to those who sincerely seek it. If Allah opens your heart to faith, no force in the world can mislead you. And if He withholds His guidance due to arrogance or persistent rejection of truth, no one—no matter how wise or influential—can lead you to the right path.
So, dear reader, do not delay your return to Allah. The same Lord who protected those young believers in their cave is ready to protect you, guide you, and grant you peace in this life and the next. Seek Him with a sincere heart, and you will find Him closer to you than your own jugular vein.
