📖 English Meaning
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance - they will never be guided, then - ever.

Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Dhukkira – reminded or admonished
  • A'rada – turned away, ignored
  • Akinnah – coverings or veils
  • Waqran – deafness, heaviness in hearing
  • Yafqahūhu – understand it or comprehend it

Tafsir (Explanation):

There is no one more unjust than a person who is reminded of the clear signs of their Lord, yet turns away from them and ignores the warning they carry. This person forgets the evil deeds they have sent ahead of themselves—acts of disbelief and disobedience—without repenting or reflecting upon them. Such a person has reached the peak of injustice because they were given the truth, understood it, and still rejected it deliberately.

For these people, Allah has placed coverings over their hearts so that they cannot grasp the meaning of the Qur'an, and heaviness in their ears so that they do not hear it with acceptance. This is a consequence of their own persistent rejection—they closed their hearts and ears to the truth, so Allah sealed them in their state. Even if you call them to guidance, O Prophet, they will never respond to your call, because their hearts are sealed and their ears are blocked. They have lost the ability to benefit from any reminder.

This verse serves as a profound warning to every soul: do not let arrogance or stubbornness lead you to turn away from Allah's signs. The Qur'an is a living reminder, and every verse is an invitation to salvation. The one who responds to it finds peace and success, while the one who turns away seals their own fate. Let this be a call to open your heart to the Qur'an today, for the door of repentance remains open until the moment of death. Do not let your deeds of the past weigh you down—Allah's mercy is vast, and He accepts those who return to Him with sincerity.

📜 Verse 55-59 — Al-Kahf

And nothing has prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them and from asking forgiveness of their Lord except that there [must] befall them the [accustomed] precedent of the former peoples or that the punishment should come [directly] before them.
And We send not the messengers except as bringers of good tidings and warners. And those who disbelieve dispute by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth and have taken My verses, and that of which they are warned, in ridicule.
And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord but turns away from them and forgets what his hands have put forth? Indeed, We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And if you invite them to guidance - they will never be guided, then - ever.
And your Lord is the Forgiving, full of mercy. If He were to impose blame upon them for what they earned, He would have hastened for them the punishment. Rather, for them is an appointment from which they will never find an escape.
And those cities - We destroyed them when they wronged, and We made for their destruction an appointed time.
