  • Amwalakum (أموالكم): Your wealth and properties.

  • Tudlu (تدلوا): To cast, throw, or present — referring to presenting wealth or arguments to judges.
  • Al-Hukkam (الحكام): Rulers, judges, or those in authority who settle disputes.
  • Fareeqan (فريقًا): A portion, group, or part of people's wealth.
  • Bil-Ithm (بالإثم): With sin, wrongdoing, or transgression.

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse delivers a profound and timeless message about the sanctity of wealth and the integrity of financial dealings in Islam. Allah, the Most High, commands His servants: "Do not consume one another's wealth unjustly" — meaning, do not take what belongs to others through falsehood, deception, or any means that Allah has not permitted. This includes theft, robbery, fraud, bribery, usury (riba), gambling, cheating in transactions, and every other form of illegitimate acquisition. The verse uses the phrase "your wealth among yourselves" to emphasize that the Muslim community is like one body — harming another's wealth is harming your own, and the rights of others are sacred trusts.

Then Allah adds a second prohibition: "Nor present it to the judges" — meaning, do not use your wealth as a means to bribe or influence those who settle disputes, nor present false arguments, forged evidence, or perjured testimony to the courts in order to wrongfully seize a portion of other people's property. This is a severe warning against using legal systems as a tool for injustice — a person might win a case in a human court through lies and manipulation, but Allah is the ultimate Judge who sees all truths and will hold every soul accountable.

The verse concludes with a powerful statement: "While you know" — meaning, you are fully aware that this is forbidden and wrong. This knowledge makes the sin even graver, for committing an act of injustice with full awareness of its prohibition is far more reprehensible than doing so in ignorance. The one who sins knowingly has no excuse, and their punishment is greater.

A Call to Reflection and Righteousness:

Dear believer, this verse is a mirror for your soul and a safeguard for your livelihood. Islam builds its economic system on justice, honesty, and mutual consent. The wealth you earn through halal means is a blessing from Allah, and the wealth you take through haram means is a curse that will consume your blessings and darken your heart. Remember that even if you deceive the judges of this world, you cannot deceive the Lord of the Worlds. He sees every transaction, hears every oath, and knows every intention.

Let this verse inspire you to be a person of utmost integrity — in your business, in your disputes, and in your dealings with others. Be content with what Allah has decreed for you, and know that true prosperity lies not in accumulating wealth through injustice, but in the peace of a clear conscience and the blessings of a lawful provision. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever takes an oath falsely to gain the property of a Muslim, Allah will make him enter the Fire and will forbid Paradise for him." So guard your wealth, guard your tongue, and guard your soul — for you will surely stand before Allah and answer for every penny you earned and every penny you spent. May Allah make us among those who earn with righteousness and spend with gratitude.

📜 Verse 186-190 — Al-Baqarah

And when My servants ask you, [O Muhammad], concerning Me - indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.
It has been made permissible for you the night preceding fasting to go to your wives [for sexual relations]. They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them. Allah knows that you used to deceive yourselves, so He accepted your repentance and forgave you. So now, have relations with them and seek that which Allah has decreed for you. And eat and drink until the white thread of dawn becomes distinct to you from the black thread [of night]. Then complete the fast until the sunset. And do not have relations with them as long as you are staying for worship in the mosques. These are the limits [set by] Allah, so do not approach them. Thus does Allah make clear His ordinances to the people that they may become righteous.
And do not consume one another's wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].
They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the new moons. Say, "They are measurements of time for the people and for Hajj." And it is not righteousness to enter houses from the back, but righteousness is [in] one who fears Allah. And enter houses from their doors. And fear Allah that you may succeed.
Fight in the way of Allah those who fight you but do not transgress. Indeed. Allah does not like transgressors.
