📖 English Meaning
Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allah?" Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.

Explanation of the Verse:

O believers, do you truly imagine that you will enter Paradise without being tested in the same way that the faithful who came before you were tested? Those earlier communities of prophets and their followers were struck by extreme poverty and disease, and they were shaken by terrifying fears and overwhelming trials. Their afflictions were so severe and so prolonged that even the Messenger and the believers with him—out of intense longing for relief, not out of doubt in Allah's promise—cried out, "When will Allah's help come?"

This verse was revealed during the Battle of the Trench (Al-Ahzab) when the Muslims faced immense hardship, hunger, and fear, and also relates to the trials of the Battle of Uhud. It serves as a profound lesson: the path to Paradise is paved with patience, perseverance, and unwavering trust in Allah. The trials of this world are not signs of Allah's abandonment; rather, they are the very means by which faith is purified and ranks are elevated.

Then Allah answers that desperate cry with a comforting, decisive assurance: "Indeed, Allah's help is near." The help of Allah is not distant, even when it seems delayed to human eyes. It arrives at the perfect moment, after the heart has been fully purified and the soul has proven its sincerity.

A Call to the Believers:

Dear believer, do not be surprised when trials come your way. They are not a punishment, but a sign that you are walking the same path that all the beloved servants of Allah walked before you. The prophets themselves—the best of creation—were tested with the severest of trials, and they remained patient. So how can we expect an easier road?

When hardship presses upon you and you feel that the darkness has lasted too long, remember that the believers before you reached the point of crying out, "When will Allah's help come?"—and Allah responded with a promise that is certain: His help is near. The dawn always breaks after the longest night. The relief is always closest when the trial is most intense. So hold firm, keep your trust in Allah, and know that your Lord hears every prayer, sees every tear, and counts every moment of your patience. Paradise is not cheap, but it is worth every difficulty you endure for His sake. Indeed, Allah's help is near—so near that it may be just one more breath of patience away.

📜 Verse 212-216 — Al-Baqarah

Beautified for those who disbelieve is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe. But those who fear Allah are above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives provision to whom He wills without account.
Mankind was [of] one religion [before their deviation]; then Allah sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed. And none differed over the Scripture except those who were given it - after the clear proofs came to them - out of jealous animosity among themselves. And Allah guided those who believed to the truth concerning that over which they had differed, by His permission. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.
Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allah?" Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend. Say, "Whatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveler. And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it."
Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.
