- Tatalaqqahum (تتلقاهم): The angels will receive them, meet them, and welcome them.
- Tu'adoon (توعدون): You were promised — the promise of reward and honor that was given to the believers in the worldly life.
Explanation of the Verse:
On that mighty Day, when hearts are seized with terror and the universe is turned upside down, the righteous servants of Allah will be shielded from the greatest fear that grips all of creation. The Qur'an assures us: "The Greatest Terror shall not grieve them" — meaning that the most dreadful events of the Hereafter, which will terrify even the mountains and the skies, will pass them by without causing them any sorrow or distress. Their hearts will be at peace, their faces radiant with joy, because they lived their lives in obedience to their Lord and in anticipation of this very moment.
Then comes the beautiful scene of divine hospitality: "And the angels will receive them" — at the gates of Paradise, the angels will come forward to greet them with warmth and honor, not as strangers but as honored guests of the Most Merciful. The angels will say to them: "This is your Day which you were promised" — a day of fulfillment, a day when every promise Allah made to His faithful servants comes true. It is the day of eternal bliss, the day when all patience, all sacrifice, and all steadfastness in the face of trials will be rewarded beyond imagination.
This verse paints a picture of hope and reassurance for every believer. It reminds us that no matter how difficult this worldly life becomes, there is a Day coming when the angels themselves will welcome us with congratulations, and all fear will be replaced by everlasting peace. The promise of Allah is true, and His reward is greater than anything we can conceive. So let this verse fill your heart with longing for that meeting, and let it motivate you to live each day in a way that earns you the honor of that angelic welcome. For the believer, the greatest terror becomes a source of comfort — because it signals the arrival of the promised joy.
