Word Meanings:

  • تَمَنَّىٰ (tamannā): Here it means "recited" or "read" — specifically, the recitation of Allah's revealed Book.
  • أُمْنِيَّتِهِ (umniyyatihi): His recitation or reading of the divine revelation.
  • يَنسَخُ (yansakhu): Abolishes, removes, or cancels out.
  • يُحْكِمُ (yuhkimu): Establishes firmly, confirms, and makes precise and unassailable.

Explanation of the Verse:

O Messenger of Allah, know that this is not something new or unique to you. Throughout history, every prophet and messenger We sent before you faced the same trial. Whenever a prophet recited the words of Allah — conveying the divine message to his people — Satan would try to interfere. He would cast his own whisperings, doubts, and false suggestions into the hearts of the listeners, attempting to confuse the pure revelation with his corruptions. He would mimic the tone of the recitation, seeking to make people doubt what they heard and turn away from the truth.

But here is the divine promise and the ultimate victory: Allah, the Most High, does not leave His servants to the deception of Satan. He abolishes whatever the devil casts, erasing it completely and exposing it as falsehood. Then Allah firmly establishes His verses — His clear, decisive, and protected signs — so that the truth stands radiant and unshaken. The whisperings of Satan are temporary and doomed to vanish, while the words of Allah are eternal and triumphant.

And Allah is All-Knowing — He knows everything that occurs, has occurred, and will occur. Nothing escapes His knowledge, not even the faintest whisper of a devil or the most hidden intention of a heart. He is All-Wise — His wisdom governs all that He decrees and all that He permits, for He knows that through this trial, the believers are tested and purified, and the truth becomes even more manifest and beloved.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

Dear reader, this verse carries a profound and comforting message for every believer. It teaches us that the path of truth has always been contested — but it also assures us that Allah's protection over His message is absolute. The Quran, which we hold in our hands today, is preserved by Allah Himself, untouched by any corruption. No devil can alter a single letter of it, and no falsehood can penetrate its verses.

So when you encounter doubts or whispers that try to shake your faith, remember this verse: Allah abolishes the whispers of Satan and establishes His signs firmly. Cling to the Quran, for it is the unshakeable rope of Allah. Let your heart find peace in the knowledge that the truth you follow is guarded by the All-Knowing, All-Wise — and that no force in the heavens or the earth can prevail against His decree.

And let this also be a lesson in humility and perseverance: even the prophets faced trials and opposition, yet they remained steadfast. So should we — trusting in Allah's promise, reciting His Book with sincerity, and knowing that the final victory belongs to the truth.

📜 Verse 50-54 — Al-Hajj

And those who have believed and done righteous deeds - for them is forgiveness and noble provision.
But the ones who strove against Our verses, [seeking] to cause failure - those are the companions of Hellfire.
And We did not send before you any messenger or prophet except that when he spoke [or recited], Satan threw into it [some misunderstanding]. But Allah abolishes that which Satan throws in; then Allah makes precise His verses. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
[That is] so He may make what Satan throws in a trial for those within whose hearts is disease and those hard of heart. And indeed, the wrongdoers are in extreme dissension.
And so those who were given knowledge may know that it is the truth from your Lord and [therefore] believe in it, and their hearts humbly submit to it. And indeed is Allah the Guide of those who have believed to a straight path.
