Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Their Meanings:
- Yusabbihu (يُسَبِّحُ): To glorify, declare God's absolute perfection and transcendence above any imperfection or deficiency.
- Saffat (صَافَّاتٍ): Birds spreading and stretching their wings in the sky, either in flight or hovering.
- Salat (صَلَاتَهُ): Prayer — for humans, the formal worship; for all creatures, their own specific form of devotion and turning to God.
- Tasbih (تَسْبِيحَهُ): Glorification — declaring God free from all flaws and imperfections.
The Tafsir (Explanation):
Have you not reflected, O noble Prophet, and realized with certainty that Allah — in His infinite majesty — is glorified by every being that exists in the heavens and the earth? The angels in the highest realms, the stars in their orbits, the mountains standing firm, the trees swaying, the animals roaming — all of them, without exception, are engaged in the glorification of their Lord. And even the birds, as they spread their wings in the vast sky, soaring and gliding, are performing their own act of worship and praise to their Creator.
What a profound and awe-inspiring scene this is! Every single creature — whether it walks on the earth, swims in the seas, or flies in the air — has been guided by Allah to know its own unique way of prayer and glorification. The bird does not need to be taught how to praise its Lord; it does so instinctively, by its very nature. The tree, the stone, the wind — all are engaged in a constant, silent hymn of praise that only Allah fully comprehends.
And Allah — Glorified and Exalted be He — is fully aware of everything His creatures do. Nothing escapes His knowledge. He knows the prayer of the devout worshipper, the glorification of the bird in flight, and the devotion of every being in His vast creation. He sees it all, and He will reward every act of worship according to its due.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, let this magnificent truth awaken your heart! If every creature in the heavens and the earth — from the mightiest angel to the smallest sparrow — is engaged in glorifying Allah, how could you, as a human being blessed with intellect and free will, remain heedless? You have been given the greatest gift: the ability to choose your worship consciously and to earn rewards through your sincere devotion. The birds glorify Allah by instinct, but you can glorify Him with understanding, love, and conscious submission. This is your honor and your opportunity!
So join this universal chorus of praise! Let your tongue be moist with the remembrance of Allah, let your heart be filled with His love, and let your life be a living testimony of gratitude to the One who created you, sustains you, and knows every single thing you do. When you pray, when you praise, when you remember your Lord — know that you are joining the entire universe in a symphony of devotion that reaches the Throne of the Most Merciful. And know that Allah, the All-Knowing, sees your efforts and will reward you beyond your imagination.
