Surah Al-Qasas — Verse 5

Pharaoh had humiliated them, enslaved them, slaughtered their sons, and spared their women, reducing them to a state of utter powerlessness. Yet, in the midst of this darkness, Allah reveals His majestic plan: "And We intend to bestow Our favor upon those who were oppressed in the land."

This is a declaration of hope and divine justice. Allah, in His infinite mercy and wisdom, does not abandon His righteous servants. He promises to transform their humiliation into honor, their weakness into strength, and their despair into triumph. The phrase "We intend" is not a mere wish or desire—it is an absolute, irrevocable decree from the Lord of the Worlds, who says to a thing, "Be," and it is.

Allah then specifies the nature of this favor: "And make them leaders (A'imma) and make them the inheritors." This means He will elevate them to positions of leadership in goodness and truth, making them examples to be followed in righteousness, faith, and justice. They will not merely be survivors; they will be pioneers and guides for humanity. Furthermore, they will inherit the land—its wealth, its resources, and its authority—after the destruction of Pharaoh and his oppressive regime. This inheritance is not limited to Egypt alone; it extends to the blessed land of Sham (Greater Syria), as Allah mentions elsewhere: *"And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and its western ones, which We had blessed..."* (Al-A'raf: 137).

It teaches us that no matter how powerful the tyrants of this world may seem, their reign is temporary, while Allah's promise to the righteous is eternal.
