Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- تُكَذِّبُوا (you deny): To reject or call a lie.
- أُمَمٌ مِّن قَبْلِكُمْ (nations before you): Previous communities and peoples who came before the Arabs, such as the people of Noah, 'Ad, and Thamud.
- الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ (clear conveyance): Delivering the message in a way that is utterly clear, unambiguous, and leaves no room for excuse.
Tafsir (Explanation):
O people, if you deny the Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) and reject what he has brought you — the call to worship Allah alone without any partner — then know that you are not the first to do so. Many nations before you denied their messengers in the very same way. The people of Noah, the people of 'Ad, the people of Thamud, and countless others rejected the truth that was brought to them, and what was their end? They were destroyed by the punishment of Allah for their arrogance and stubbornness.
So let not your denial deceive you into thinking you are safe. The pattern of history is clear: those who reject the truth face the consequences, and those who accept it are saved.
As for the Messenger, his duty is not to force you into belief, nor to control your hearts, nor to bring down punishment upon you. His sole responsibility is to convey the message of Allah to you with absolute clarity — and he has indeed done so, leaving no excuse for anyone. He has delivered the truth, explained it, and called to it with wisdom and patience. After that, every soul is accountable for its own choices. If you believe, you will be rewarded; if you deny, you will bear the burden of your own decision.
A Da'wah Reflection:
Dear reader, reflect on this profound truth: the Messenger's mission was one of mercy and clarity. He came not to coerce, but to guide — to illuminate the path so clearly that no one could claim ignorance. This is the beauty of Islam: it is a religion of reason and evidence, not blind following. The Qur'an challenges you to think, to ponder, and to seek the truth with an open heart. If you do, you will find in it the peace your soul longs for and the answers your mind seeks. Do not let pride or habit keep you from the truth that has been made so clear. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy is vast — but the decision is yours, and the time is now.
