Surah Aal-Imran — Verse 104

Explanation of the Verse:

O believers, Allah commands you to establish among yourselves a group of people whose noble mission is to call others to every form of goodness — beginning with the foundation of all good, which is Islam itself — and to enjoin what is right and virtuous, and to forbid what is evil and harmful. This is the essence of Islamic social responsibility: a community that does not remain silent in the face of corruption, but actively works to spread righteousness and prevent wrongdoing.

The command here is significant. It establishes that there must always exist within the Muslim community those who take up this duty — whether through teaching, advising, guiding, or correcting. This is not merely a recommendation; it is a collective obligation that ensures the moral and spiritual health of society. Every capable believer has a role to play: if one cannot change an evil with their hand (through action), they should speak against it with their tongue, and if they cannot do even that, they must at least condemn it in their heart — and that is the weakest level of faith.

Those who embody this beautiful characteristic — calling to good, commanding what is right, and forbidding what is wrong — are the ones promised true success. Their success is not limited to worldly achievements; rather, it encompasses eternal felicity in the Gardens of Paradise.
