Translation — Tafsir
Key Words and Phrases:
- "آثَارِ رَحْمَتِ اللَّهِ" (Athar rahmat Allah): The traces or effects of Allah's mercy — referring here to the rain and its visible results on the earth.
- "يُحْيِي الْأَرْضَ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهَا" (Yuhyi al-ard ba'da mawtiha): He gives life to the earth after its death — meaning He revives the dry, barren land with vegetation after it had been lifeless.
- "لَمُحْيِي الْمَوْتَى" (La-muhyi al-mawta): Certainly the One who revives the dead — affirming Allah's power to resurrect people on the Day of Judgment.
- "قَدِيرٌ" (Qadir): All-Powerful, capable of everything without any limitation.
Explanation of the Verse:
O observer, open your eyes and reflect deeply upon the visible signs of Allah's mercy — the rain that falls from the sky and the lush greenery that springs forth from the once-parched, lifeless earth. Look at how the land that was dry and cracked becomes vibrant with plants, crops, and trees after a single shower of rain. This is not a random act of nature; it is the deliberate and merciful hand of Allah, who sends down water as a blessing for His creation.
Now, ponder this: The One who revives a dead earth with such ease and perfection — is He not fully capable of bringing the dead back to life on the Day of Resurrection? Indeed, the very same power that transforms barren soil into a garden of life is the power that will raise every human being from their graves. If He can create life from apparent nothingness, then nothing is beyond His reach. He is the All-Powerful, the One who is never weakened, never hindered, and never incapable of doing anything He wills.
This verse is a gentle yet profound invitation to strengthen your faith. When you see the earth springing to life after a long drought, let it remind you of the ultimate return to your Lord. Just as the rain brings hope to a barren land, so too does Allah's mercy bring hope to a soul seeking guidance. And just as the revival of the earth is certain, so too is the resurrection — a promise from the One who never breaks His word. So look, reflect, and let your heart fill with certainty: the same Allah who gives life to the earth will surely give life to the dead, and He is over all things competent and able.
