Surah Ar-Rum — Verse 51

He says: If We send a destructive wind upon their crops and plants, and they see their once-green fields turn yellow and wither away, they would — despite all the previous blessings We had granted them — persist in ingratitude and denial. They forget the countless seasons of abundance, the rains that nourished the earth, and the fruits that sustained them. In a moment of hardship, they turn away and deny the very Source of those blessings.

This verse highlights a weakness in human nature: when times are good, we often forget to thank the Giver; when a trial strikes, we may fall into despair and even disbelief. The Qur'an gently rebukes this attitude, reminding us that hardship is a test, not a sign of abandonment. The same Lord who sent the wind is the One who sends the rain, and His mercy encompasses all circumstances.
