- "Azwāj" — pairs, meaning male and female counterparts.

Explanation of the Verse:
Allah, the Almighty, draws our attention to the miracle of human existence and His absolute knowledge and control over every detail of our lives. He begins by reminding us of our humble origin: He created your forefather Adam from dust — a substance with no life, no value, yet from it Allah fashioned the first human being. Then, through the process of reproduction, He created the rest of humanity from a mere drop of fluid — a weak and insignificant beginning that, by His power, develops into a fully formed human being. Then He made you into pairs — male and female — so that through marriage and mutual companionship, life continues and societies are built.
The verse then shifts to a profound truth: no female conceives or gives birth except with His complete knowledge. Not a single pregnancy occurs in the womb, nor a single birth takes place, without Allah’s perfect awareness of it — its timing, its conditions, its outcome. Nothing escapes His knowledge, whether in the depths of the womb or in the vastness of the universe.
Furthermore, no one is granted a long life, and no one’s lifespan is shortened, except that it is already recorded in a clear Book — the Preserved Tablet — before the person is even born. Every breath, every moment of life, every extension or reduction of years is precisely measured and written. This is not a matter of chance or random fate; it is the decree of the All-Knowing, All-Wise.
Finally, Allah assures us: "Indeed, that is easy for Allah." Creating you from dust, developing you from a drop, determining your gender, recording your lifespan, and knowing every detail of your existence — all of this is effortless for Him. He who created the heavens and the earth with a single command finds no difficulty in managing the affairs of His creation.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this verse. The One who created you from nothing, who shaped you in the womb, who knows the exact number of your days — He is the One who deserves your gratitude and worship. If He has recorded your lifespan, then your time on this earth is precious; use it in obedience to Him, in seeking His pleasure, and in serving His creation. If He knows every detail of your life, then know that nothing you do is hidden from Him — so fill your days with goodness, and your heart with trust in His decree. The same Allah who made your creation easy for Himself has made His mercy and forgiveness easy for you to attain — just turn to Him sincerely, and He will welcome you with open arms. This is the beauty of Islam: a relationship with a Lord who knows you intimately, cares for you precisely, and has written your destiny with perfect wisdom. Embrace Him, and you will find peace that no worldly treasure can provide.
