Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-'Izzah (العزة): Honor, power, and invincible might.
  • Al-Kalim at-Tayyib (الكلم الطيب): Pure and good words, most notably the declaration of Tawhid (La ilaha illa Allah) and all forms of remembrance of Allah.
  • Yarfa'uhu (يرفعه): Raises it — meaning the righteous deed elevates the good word and causes it to be accepted.
  • Yamkuruna as-Sayyi'at (يمكرون السيئات): Those who devise evil plots and schemes, particularly against the truth and its people.
  • Yabur (يبور): Perishes, becomes void, and brings no benefit.

Tafsir (Explanation):

If you seek honor, power, or true dignity — whether in this world or the Hereafter — then know with certainty that all honor belongs to Allah alone. He is the Source of all might, and no one can grant honor except Him. Whoever seeks honor from created beings will be humiliated, but whoever seeks honor through obedience to the Creator will be elevated and honored by Him. So if you desire glory, attach yourself to Allah through faith and righteous deeds, for He is the One who raises the humble and humbles the proud.

To Him alone ascend the pure and good words — the remembrance of Allah, the declaration of His Oneness, and the sincere utterances of the heart. But these words are not enough on their own; they must be accompanied by righteous deeds, for it is the righteous action that lifts the good word up to Allah and causes it to be accepted. This is a profound reminder: faith is not merely a claim on the tongue, but a reality proven by action. The believer's words and deeds rise together, supported by sincerity and devotion.

As for those who plot evil schemes — like the disbelievers who conspired against the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the believers — they will face a severe punishment. Their cunning plans will not succeed; rather, their schemes will perish and collapse, bringing them nothing but loss and ruin. Allah's promise is true: evil plotting only destroys its own authors, while the truth prevails and the righteous are ultimately victorious.

A Call to the Reader:

Dear seeker of honor, do not waste your efforts chasing glory from those who possess nothing. True honor is found in humility before Allah, in the sweetness of His remembrance, and in the beauty of righteous deeds. Let your tongue be filled with good words, and let your hands and heart confirm them with sincere actions. For when your words and deeds ascend together, you will find a treasure that no worldly power can ever match — the honor of being close to your Lord, in this life and in the life to come. And beware of those who plot evil, for their end is destruction, while the people of truth and goodness shall inherit the earth and the pleasure of Allah. Choose today which path you will walk: the path of honor that leads to eternal success, or the path of scheming that leads to ruin. The choice is yours, and the reward is with Allah.

📜 Verse 8-12 — Fatir

Then is one to whom the evil of his deed has been made attractive so he considers it good [like one rightly guided]? For indeed, Allah sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. So do not let yourself perish over them in regret. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of what they do.
And it is Allah who sends the winds, and they stir the clouds, and We drive them to a dead land and give life thereby to the earth after its lifelessness. Thus is the resurrection.
Whoever desires honor [through power] - then to Allah belongs all honor. To Him ascends good speech, and righteous work raises it. But they who plot evil deeds will have a severe punishment, and the plotting of those - it will perish.
And Allah created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop; then He made you mates. And no female conceives nor does she give birth except with His knowledge. And no aged person is granted [additional] life nor is his lifespan lessened but that it is in a register. Indeed, that for Allah is easy.
And not alike are the two bodies of water. One is fresh and sweet, palatable for drinking, and one is salty and bitter. And from each you eat tender meat and extract ornaments which you wear, and you see the ships plowing through [them] that you might seek of His bounty; and perhaps you will be grateful.
