Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Al-Hamd (الْحَمْدُ): Complete and perfect praise, gratitude, and commendation that is due solely to Allah for His infinite favors and blessings.
  • Rabb (رَبِّ): The Lord, Master, Sustainer, and Nurturer who creates, owns, and manages all affairs of His creation.
  • Al-'Alamin (الْعَالَمِينَ): All the worlds — every created being and realm, including humans, angels, jinn, animals, plants, and the entire universe in all its dimensions.

Explanation of the Verse:

All praise and gratitude belong exclusively to Allah, the Lord of all the worlds. He alone deserves every form of praise — in this life and in the Hereafter — for He is the sole Creator, Sustainer, and Manager of everything that exists. There is no partner with Him in any of this, and no one else shares in His divinity or His right to be worshipped.

This verse comes as a beautiful conclusion to the stories of the prophets mentioned in this chapter — Noah, Abraham, Moses, Aaron, Elijah, and Jonah (peace be upon them all). After recounting how Allah granted victory to His messengers and destroyed their enemies, the chapter closes with this profound declaration: all praise belongs to Allah for His justice, His mercy, and His perfect wisdom in every situation. He is praised for the triumph of truth over falsehood, for the success of the righteous, and for His flawless management of all affairs.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, when you say "Alhamdulillah" (all praise is due to Allah), you are not merely uttering words — you are affirming the most fundamental truth of existence. You are declaring that every blessing you have — your breath, your health, your family, your faith — comes from the One who owns everything. You are acknowledging that He alone deserves your gratitude, your obedience, and your love.

Let this verse transform your heart. When you wake up in the morning, praise Him. When you eat your food, thank Him. When you face difficulties, remember that He is the Wise Manager of all affairs, and nothing happens without His perfect plan. And when you see the beauty of nature, the stars in the sky, or the smile of a loved one — say: "Alhamdulillah, Rabbil-'Alamin."

This is the key to true peace: to live every moment with a heart full of gratitude to the One who deserves all praise — now and forever, in this world and in the eternal Hereafter.
