Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Ibad (عباد): servants/slaves of Allah
  • Taqwa (اتقوا): to be mindful of Allah, to protect oneself by following His commands and avoiding His prohibitions
  • Ahsanu (أحسنوا): those who did good, excelled in righteous deeds
  • Hasana (حسنة): goodness, reward, blessing
  • Yuwaffa (يوفى): will be paid in full, given completely
  • Bighayri Hisab (بغير حساب): without measure, without limit, beyond reckoning

Tafsir (Explanation):

O beloved Prophet, say to My believing servants: Be mindful of your Lord! Let the consciousness of Allah permeate your hearts, guiding you to obey His commands and shun what He has forbidden. This is the essence of taqwa — a protective shield that guards your faith and elevates your soul.

For those who excel in goodness in this worldly life — those who beautify their deeds with sincerity, worship their Lord with devotion, and treat His creation with kindness — there awaits a magnificent reward. In this world, they are granted peace of heart, provision, health, and victory. And in the Hereafter, they are granted the ultimate bliss: Paradise. This is the promise of Allah, and His promise is true.

And know this: Allah's earth is vast! If you find yourselves in a land where you cannot practice your faith freely, where oppression seeks to extinguish the light of your belief — then migrate! Move to a place where you can worship your Lord openly and establish your religion with dignity. Do not let fear of leaving your homeland hold you back, for the earth of Allah is spacious, and wherever you find the freedom to worship Him, there is your home.

Then comes the crown of this verse: "Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without measure." Reflect on this profound promise! The patient ones — those who remained steadfast in their faith despite persecution, who endured hardship for the sake of Allah, who did not abandon their religion when faced with trials — for them, the reward is not calculated or counted. It is given freely, abundantly, beyond imagination. No scales will weigh it, no numbers can contain it. This is Allah's special gift to the patient, a reward so immense that only His infinite generosity can describe it.

Dear believer, let this verse ignite hope in your heart. Whatever trials you face today — know that your patience is not in vain. Allah sees your struggle, and He has prepared for you a reward that defies all measure. So hold firm, be patient, and trust in your Lord. The sweetness of His reward will far surpass any bitterness you taste in this world.

📜 Verse 8-12 — Az-Zumar

And when adversity touches man, he calls upon his Lord, turning to Him [alone]; then when He bestows on him a favor from Himself, he forgets Him whom he called upon before, and he attributes to Allah equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy your disbelief for a little; indeed, you are of the companions of the Fire."
Is one who is devoutly obedient during periods of the night, prostrating and standing [in prayer], fearing the Hereafter and hoping for the mercy of his Lord, [like one who does not]? Say, "Are those who know equal to those who do not know?" Only they will remember [who are] people of understanding.
Say, "O My servants who have believed, fear your Lord. For those who do good in this world is good, and the earth of Allah is spacious. Indeed, the patient will be given their reward without account."
Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been commanded to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion.
And I have been commanded to be the first [among you] of the Muslims."
