Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Al-Ghayb (الْغَيْبِ): The unseen, that which is hidden from human perception, including matters of the Hereafter, Paradise, Hell, and the divine revelations from the heavens.
- Danin (ضَنِين): Stingy, miserly, or withholding. It refers to someone who is reluctant to give or share what they possess.
Explanation of the Verse:
This noble verse absolves the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) of any accusation of withholding or being miserly with the knowledge of the unseen that Allah entrusted to him. The verse declares: "And he is not stingy regarding the unseen" — meaning that the Prophet (peace be upon him) does not hold back any part of the divine revelation he received. He conveys the message completely, without omission, alteration, or personal gain.
The "unseen" here refers to the sacred knowledge revealed to him from the heavens — the Qur'an and the divine wisdom — which he was commanded to deliver to all of humanity. Unlike the soothsayers and fortune-tellers who would withhold their knowledge for payment or personal benefit, the Prophet (peace be upon him) delivered the message purely for the sake of Allah, seeking no reward from people.
This verse also refutes any claim that the Prophet was a fabricator or that he concealed any part of what was revealed to him. He was neither a liar nor a miser with the truth. Rather, he was the most trustworthy and generous in conveying Allah's message, sparing no effort in guiding his people, warning them, and teaching them everything that would benefit them in this life and the Hereafter.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, ponder the profound honesty and sincerity of this great Prophet. He was not a man seeking wealth, power, or fame. He was a man who carried a heavy trust — the guidance of all humanity — and he delivered it with complete transparency and selflessness. He did not keep any knowledge for himself or his close companions; rather, he shared every word of revelation with the world, even at the cost of his own comfort and safety.
This verse invites you to reflect: if the Prophet (peace be upon him) was so meticulous in conveying the message of Allah, then the Qur'an you hold today is the complete, unaltered word of Allah — a treasure of guidance that has been preserved for you. Embrace it, read it, and let it illuminate your path. For in it lies your success in this world and your salvation in the Hereafter. Do not let this precious gift pass you by, for it is the very mercy of Allah sent to rescue you from darkness into light.
