Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- An-Nahar (النَّهَارِ): The day, which is the time of light and visibility after the darkness of night.
- Tajalla (تَجَلَّىٰ): To become clear, manifest, and radiant; when the sun rises and its light spreads over the horizons, dispelling the darkness.
Explanation of the Verse:
Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He) swears by the day when it unveils its brilliance and spreads its light across the heavens and the earth. When the day "manifests" (tajalla), it means the sun has risen high, and its rays illuminate every corner, making things visible and clear after the obscurity of the night. This is a divine oath that draws our attention to the magnificent alternation of night and day—a sign of Allah’s perfect power and wisdom. Just as the night covers the world in darkness, the day comes with its radiant light, uncovering what was hidden and bringing life, movement, and clarity. This contrast is not random; it is a reflection of the Creator’s absolute control over the universe, and it serves as a reminder that He who created this cycle of light and darkness is fully capable of distinguishing between deeds and recompensing each soul accordingly.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and ponder: how many times have you witnessed the break of dawn, when the darkness of the night is lifted and the world awakens with light and hope? This daily miracle is not merely a natural phenomenon—it is a living sign from your Lord, calling you to recognize His greatness and to align your life with His guidance. The day that "manifests" is a promise that after every hardship comes ease, and after every darkness comes light. Just as the sun never fails to rise, Allah’s mercy and justice never fail to prevail. Let this verse inspire you to seek the light of faith in your heart, to let the radiance of the Qur’an and the Sunnah dispel the shadows of ignorance and sin, and to strive for deeds that will shine brightly on the Day when every soul will see the results of its efforts. Embrace the light of Islam, for it is the true dawn that leads to eternal success and the pleasure of your Creator.
