Surah Al-Layl — Verse 7

Word Meanings:

• فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ (We will ease him): We will facilitate and make smooth for him.
• لِلْيُسْرَىٰ (to the path of ease): The path of goodness, righteousness, and the way that leads to Paradise.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse comes as a direct response to the one described in the previous verses — the one who gives in charity, fears Allah, and believes in the truth of “La ilaha illa Allah” and all that it entails, including the reward and punishment of the Hereafter. For such a person, Allah promises: "We will ease him to the path of ease."

This means that Allah will guide him, support him, and make his journey toward goodness smooth and attainable. He will be inspired to perform righteous deeds, to continue spending in the way of Allah, and to persist in obedience. His heart will be opened to acts of worship, his steps will be directed toward beneficial knowledge and sincere deeds, and his affairs will be facilitated in this world and the next. The more he strives for goodness, the more Allah grants him success and makes goodness beloved to him — until it becomes his natural disposition.

This is a profound divine promise: whoever takes the first step toward Allah, Allah takes many steps toward him. Whoever gives for the sake of Allah, Allah gives him more than he could ever imagine. The path of righteousness, though it may seem difficult at first, becomes easy and blessed for the sincere believer.

Dear reader, this verse carries a beautiful and heartwarming promise. It tells you that you are never alone in your journey toward Allah. When you decide to give, to fear Allah, and to believe in Him with a sincere heart, Allah Himself takes charge of your affairs. He will open doors for you, make your good deeds easy, and bless your efforts beyond your expectations. So do not hesitate to take that first step — whether it is giving charity, praying, or turning back to Allah in repentance. For when you move toward Allah, He moves toward you with mercy, guidance, and ease. And what a beautiful trade that is: a small step from you, and a universe of blessings from Him.
