Surah Al-Fil — Verse 2

Tafsir (Explanation):

The "they" refers to the army of Abraha, the Abyssinian governor of Yemen, who marched with a mighty war elephant to destroy the Kaaba. They had meticulously planned a devastating assault, believing their power and military might were unstoppable. Yet, Allah — in His absolute sovereignty — took their carefully laid plans and turned them into nothingness. Their strategy, which they had perfected with such arrogance, was thrown into complete disarray and confusion. They did not achieve their goal of demolishing the Sacred House, nor did they manage to turn people away from it. Instead, their entire expedition ended in humiliation and ruin. The verse reminds us that no matter how formidable human schemes may appear, Allah's will reigns supreme, and He can reduce the mightiest conspiracies to dust in an instant.
