Explanation of the Verse:

In this noble verse, Allah — through His Prophet Hud (peace be upon him) — calls upon His servants with a message of mercy and hope. He commands them to do two essential things: first, to seek His forgiveness for the sins they have committed, and second, to follow that with sincere repentance — turning back to Him with a broken heart, regretting the past, and resolving to obey Him in the future.

The verse then reveals the beautiful reward for those who respond to this call: Allah promises to grant them a good and blessed life in this world — a life of contentment, peace, and provision — until the end of their appointed term. This is not merely about material wealth; it is about the tranquility and barakah (blessing) that Allah places in the life of a repentant believer. Moreover, Allah adds another generous promise: He will give every person of excellence — those who excel in faith, knowledge, and righteous action — the full, complete reward of their virtue, with nothing diminished.

Then comes a sincere warning: if anyone turns away from this call, rejects the message, and persists in disobedience, the Prophet expresses his fear for them of the punishment of a Great Day — the Day of Judgment, when every soul will face the consequences of its deeds.

This verse beautifully combines hope and fear. It opens the door of mercy wide open, inviting everyone — no matter how great their sins — to come back to their Lord. It reassures us that Allah's forgiveness is vast and that repentance brings immediate blessings in this life and the next. At the same time, it gently but firmly reminds us of the seriousness of turning away from Allah's guidance.

Dear reader, this is the essence of Islam: a religion of mercy that never closes the door of repentance. No matter where you are in your journey, no matter what you have done, Allah is calling you today — right now — to seek His forgiveness and turn back to Him. He promises you a good life in this world and a magnificent reward in the Hereafter. Do not delay, for none of us knows when our appointed term will arrive. Respond to His call with a sincere heart, and you will find Him waiting with open arms of mercy and grace.
