Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Marji'ukum (مَرْجِعُكُمْ): Your return, the place of ultimate return and destination.
- Qadir (قَدِيرٌ): All-Powerful, Omnipotent, having complete and absolute power over all things.
Explanation of the Verse:
O humanity, hear this truth clearly: your final destination is not this world, nor the graves you will be placed in, but Allah alone. To Him — and to no other — is your return after death, on the Day of Resurrection. Every soul, from the first to the last, will be gathered before Him for judgment. This is not a matter of chance or speculation; it is an absolute certainty that every one of you will face.
And He — glorified and exalted — is fully capable of bringing this about. His power is not limited by time, matter, or circumstance. He who created you from nothing, who gave you life after you were non-existent, is certainly able to bring you back to life after death. Nothing is difficult for Him — not the resurrection of all mankind, not the reckoning of every deed, not the weighing of every action. He is All-Powerful over everything: over rewarding the obedient, over punishing the disobedient, over the affairs of this world and the Hereafter alike. No one can escape His decree, and no protection can shield you from His justice.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this profound truth. If your return is to Allah, and His power is absolute, then what is your preparation for that meeting? This verse is not merely a statement of fact — it is a gentle yet firm reminder that life is a journey, and every journey has an end. The One to whom you will return is not a distant, indifferent force; He is your Creator, your Sustainer, and the Most Merciful. Yet He is also the Just Judge whose power knows no bounds.
Let this certainty transform your heart. If you know you will return to Him, then live in a way that makes that return a joyful one. Turn to Him in repentance, hold fast to His guidance, and let the awareness of His power fill you with both hope and reverence. For He who is capable of resurrecting you is also capable of forgiving you, elevating you, and granting you the highest ranks of Paradise — if only you seek Him sincerely.
And know that no matter how far you may have strayed, His door is open. His power includes the power to forgive, to transform, and to grant a fresh start. So do not despair, and do not delay. Return to Him now, before the day when all returns are final.
