Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Jannātu ʿAdnin): Gardens of perpetual residence and eternal settlement — a place of lasting abode from which one never departs.
(Tajrī min taḥtihā al-anhār): Rivers flowing beneath the palaces and trees of these gardens.
(Mā yashāʾūn): Everything their souls desire and their eyes find delight in — from food, drink, comfort, and beauty.
(Al-Muttaqīn): Those who are mindful of Allah, guarding themselves against His displeasure by obeying His commands and avoiding His prohibitions.

Tafsir (Explanation):

After mentioning the reward of the righteous in the preceding verse, Allah now describes that reward in vivid detail to stir the hearts of the believers. He says: These are Gardens of ʿAdn — permanent dwellings of honor and stability — which the righteous will enter, never to leave. Beneath these gardens, rivers flow gracefully under the shade of their trees and between their lofty palaces, bringing life and beauty to every corner. In these gardens, they will have whatever they wish — every desire fulfilled, every longing satisfied, with no fear of loss or deprivation. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart can conceive the delights prepared for them.

Then Allah concludes: "Thus does Allah reward the Muttaqīn" — meaning, in this magnificent way, He recompenses those who fear Him and remain steadfast in piety. This reward is not limited to one nation or era; it is the eternal promise of Allah to every believer who upholds righteousness, from the first generation to the last.

Daʿwah Reflection:

Dear believer, pause and reflect on this divine promise! Allah — the Most Generous, the Most Merciful — has prepared for His righteous servants a reward beyond imagination. He did not merely promise them a garden; He promised them Gardens of ʿAdn — eternal, unending, and perfect. Rivers flow beneath them, and every wish is granted instantly. This is the ultimate success that should motivate every Muslim to strive in obedience, to purify their hearts, and to remain steadfast on the path of righteousness. The key to this paradise is simple yet profound: taqwā — being conscious of Allah in every moment, in every action, and in every word. Let this verse ignite within you a burning desire to draw closer to Allah, knowing that His reward is far greater than any sacrifice you make in this world. Indeed, the pleasure of Allah and His eternal gardens are the true success — so race toward them with sincerity and devotion!

📜 Verse 29-33 — An-Nahl

So enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and how wretched is the residence of the arrogant.
And it will be said to those who feared Allah, "What did your Lord send down?" They will say, "[That which is] good." For those who do good in this world is good; and the home of the Hereafter is better. And how excellent is the home of the righteous -
Gardens of perpetual residence, which they will enter, beneath which rivers flow. They will have therein whatever they wish. Thus does Allah reward the righteous -
The ones whom the angels take in death, [being] good and pure; [the angels] will say, "Peace be upon you. Enter Paradise for what you used to do."
Do the disbelievers await [anything] except that the angels should come to them or there comes the command of your Lord? Thus did those do before them. And Allah wronged them not, but they had been wronging themselves.
