Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

(Thaani 'itfihi): Bending his neck aside, turning away in arrogance and pride.
(Liyudilla): To mislead or turn others away.
(Khizyun): Disgrace, humiliation, and shame.
  • عَذَابَ الْحَرِيقِ ('Adhaaba al-Hareeq): The torment of burning fire.

Explanation of the Verse:

This verse describes a type of arrogant disbeliever who engages in futile arguments about Allah, His Oneness, His chosen Messenger (peace be upon him), and the revelation of the Quran—all without any true knowledge, clear proof, or a divine scripture that could serve as a valid authority. Such a person twists his neck in haughtiness, turning away from the truth with pride, and his sole aim is to block others from the path of Allah and prevent them from embracing the faith.

For such a person, there is a promise of disgrace in this worldly life—he will be humiliated and exposed, his arguments refuted, and his schemes brought to nothing. Then, on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will make him taste the torment of the blazing fire, a punishment that burns and consumes.

A Call to Reflection and Faith:

This verse serves as a powerful reminder of the fate of those who oppose the truth out of arrogance and seek to lead others astray. It teaches us that pride and stubbornness against divine guidance only lead to ruin, both in this world and the Hereafter. How beautiful is the path of humility before Allah, and how sweet is the reward for those who submit to Him with sincerity! Let us not be among those who turn away from the truth, but rather be among those who embrace it with an open heart, guiding others toward the light of Islam. For Allah’s promise is true: the arrogant will taste disgrace, while the humble believers will be honored with His mercy and eternal bliss in Paradise.

📜 Verse 7-11 — Al-Hajj

And [that they may know] that the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - and that Allah will resurrect those in the graves.
And of the people is he who disputes about Allah without knowledge or guidance or an enlightening book [from Him],
Twisting his neck [in arrogance] to mislead [people] from the way of Allah. For him in the world is disgrace, and We will make him taste on the Day of Resurrection the punishment of the Burning Fire [while it is said],
"That is for what your hands have put forth and because Allah is not ever unjust to [His] servants."
And of the people is he who worships Allah on an edge. If he is touched by good, he is reassured by it; but if he is struck by trial, he turns on his face [to the other direction]. He has lost [this] world and the Hereafter. That is what is the manifest loss.
