Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- "Bimā qaddamat yadāk" — Because of what your own hands have sent forth, meaning the deeds you committed and earned during your life.
- "Laysa bi ẓallām lil-ʿabīd" — Allah is not unjust or oppressive to His servants; He does not punish anyone without sin or wrongdoing.
Tafsir (Explanation):
On the Day of Judgment, when the disbelievers and wrongdoers are cast into the Fire, they will be told: "This punishment that has befallen you is the direct result of what your own hands have sent forth — your disbelief, your sins, your transgressions against Allah's commands, and your mistreatment of others. You reaped exactly what you sowed."
This statement carries a profound truth: Allah, the Most Just, never wrongs any of His creation. He does not punish a single soul without cause, nor does He increase anyone's punishment beyond what their deeds deserve. Rather, He is the All-Knowing, the All-Wise, who rewards every good deed and holds every soul accountable for its own actions — with perfect fairness and absolute justice.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
Dear reader, pause and reflect on this magnificent divine justice! Allah does not punish out of cruelty or vengeance — He is Ar-Rahman, Ar-Raheem (the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate). Every trial in this life and every consequence in the Hereafter is a mirror of our own choices. If you see hardship, ask yourself: what have my hands sent forth? And if you see ease and blessing, know that it is from Allah's boundless grace, not your own merit alone.
This verse is a gentle yet powerful reminder that we are not victims of fate, but architects of our own destiny. Allah has given us free will, guidance through His messengers, and the Quran as a light — and He will never treat us unjustly. So turn to Him now, before the day when hands can no longer send forth deeds, and let your hands today be filled with charity, kindness, and obedience. For indeed, Allah's justice is perfect, but His mercy is even greater — and He loves nothing more than a servant who repents and returns to Him.
