  • Tawallaw (تَوَلَّوْا): Turn away, reject, or abandon the command.

  • Balāgh al-mubīn (الْبَلَاغُ الْمُبِينُ): The clear, evident delivery of the message.

Tafsir (Explanation):

O Prophet, Allah commands you to declare to all people: "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger." This means submit fully to Allah’s commands and follow the Messenger’s guidance in both your outward actions and your inner intentions — with sincerity, not hypocrisy. Obedience to the Messenger is inseparable from obedience to Allah, for he does not speak from his own desire; he conveys only what has been revealed to him.

If they turn away and refuse to comply, then let them know clearly: the Messenger is only responsible for what he was entrusted with — delivering the divine message with complete clarity and fidelity. He is not responsible for forcing them to accept it or for their rejection. As for you, you are responsible for what you were entrusted with — obedience, submission, and acting upon what has been conveyed to you. Each person bears their own burden; no one carries the burden of another.

And if you obey him — by doing what he commands and abstaining from what he forbids — you will be guided to the truth and to the straight path that leads to success in this life and salvation in the Hereafter. Guidance comes through following his example, for his way is the clearest path to Allah’s pleasure.

The Messenger’s duty is nothing more than to deliver the message in a clear, unambiguous manner. He has fulfilled this duty perfectly. The choice to accept or reject lies with you, and the consequences of that choice will return upon you alone.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a profound and beautiful message for every seeker of truth. Allah, in His infinite mercy, does not burden any soul beyond its capacity. He sent His Messenger with a clear, simple message — and made the path to guidance accessible to all who sincerely seek it. The Prophet ﷺ delivered this message with perfect honesty and clarity, leaving no excuse for anyone. Today, the same message reaches you: obey Allah and His Messenger, and you will find light in your heart, peace in your life, and success in the Hereafter. Do not turn away from this mercy — for the door of guidance is open, and the call of truth is still echoing through time. Answer it with your heart, and you will never regret it.

📜 Verse 52-56 — An-Nur

And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger and fears Allah and is conscious of Him - it is those who are the attainers.
And they swear by Allah their strongest oaths that if you ordered them, they would go forth [in Allah 's cause]. Say, "Do not swear. [Such] obedience is known. Indeed, Allah is Acquainted with that which you do."
Say, "Obey Allah and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification."
Allah has promised those who have believed among you and done righteous deeds that He will surely grant them succession [to authority] upon the earth just as He granted it to those before them and that He will surely establish for them [therein] their religion which He has preferred for them and that He will surely substitute for them, after their fear, security, [for] they worship Me, not associating anything with Me. But whoever disbelieves after that - then those are the defiantly disobedient.
And establish prayer and give zakah and obey the Messenger - that you may receive mercy.
