Tafsir (Explanation):
Allah tells us about Qarun, who was one of the people of Prophet Musa, peace be upon him. He was among the Children of Israel and even a relative of Musa, yet he turned against his own people with arrogance and oppression. He transgressed all bounds—he became haughty, mistreated others, and even rejected the truth brought by Musa.
Allah had granted Qarun immense wealth—so vast that the very keys to his treasures were too heavy for a group of strong men to carry. This was a tremendous blessing and a test from Allah. Yet instead of showing gratitude, Qarun let his wealth fill him with pride and vanity.
At that point, the righteous believers among his people advised him sincerely, saying: "Do not rejoice with arrogance and boastfulness over what you have been given. Do not let wealth make you forget your Lord. Indeed, Allah does not love those who exult in worldly blessings with pride and ingratitude—those who forget that every blessing comes from Him alone."
This verse carries a profound lesson for every believer: Wealth, status, and abilities are all tests from Allah. True success lies not in how much we possess, but in how we use what we have with humility, gratitude, and service to others. When Allah blesses us, we should remember that He can take it away in an instant, and that the greatest joy is not in hoarding treasures, but in pleasing our Creator.
The advice given to Qarun is a timeless reminder for all of us: Rejoice in Allah's blessings with a heart full of gratitude, not with arrogance. Share what you have, stay humble, and remember that everything we own is a trust from Allah. For those who exult in pride, Allah's displeasure awaits—but for those who are grateful and humble, His mercy and rewards are boundless. Let us be among those who use every blessing to draw closer to Allah and to help others, for that is the path to true success in this life and the Hereafter.
