Word Meanings:

  • "Wabtaghi" — Seek and strive for.
  • "Al-Dar al-Akhirah" — The abode of the Hereafter, i.e., Paradise.
  • "Naseebak" — Your share or portion.
  • "La Tabgh" — Do not seek or pursue.
  • "Al-Fasad" — Corruption, mischief, and disorder.

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse carries a profound and comprehensive message, addressing the believer with divine wisdom on how to balance the pursuit of the Hereafter with the necessities of worldly life. Allah, the Most High, instructs His servant to seek the rewards of the eternal life by utilizing the wealth and blessings He has granted — spending in ways that please Him, such as charity, supporting the needy, and performing acts of obedience. This is the true investment that yields lasting returns in the Hereafter.

At the same time, Allah does not command the believer to abandon the world entirely. Rather, He says: *"And do not forget your share of the world"* — meaning, enjoy the lawful pleasures of life: eat, drink, wear what is permissible, and take comfort in the good things Allah has provided, without extravagance or arrogance. Islam is a religion of balance; it does not demand monasticism, nor does it permit heedless indulgence. The believer is called to be in the world but not of it — using worldly blessings as a means to reach higher spiritual goals.

Then comes the beautiful command: *"And do good as Allah has done good to you."* Reflect on this — Allah has showered you with countless favors, so let your conduct toward His creation mirror His kindness toward you. Be generous, forgiving, compassionate, and upright in your dealings. Just as you love to receive mercy, show mercy to others.

Finally, Allah warns: *"And do not seek corruption in the land."* This encompasses all forms of wrongdoing — oppression, injustice, sin, and transgression. Whoever disobeys Allah has indeed sought corruption, for obedience brings reform and righteousness, while disobedience brings ruin. The verse closes with a powerful reminder: *"Indeed, Allah does not love the corrupters."* This is both a warning and a call to reflection — for who would wish to lose the love of their Lord?

A Da'wah Reflection:

Dear reader, this verse is a divine blueprint for a successful life. It teaches us that wealth is not an enemy of faith, but a trust from Allah. The question is not how much you have, but how you use it. Will you be among those who turn blessings into bridges to Paradise, or among those who let them become burdens of accountability? The choice is yours. Let this verse inspire you to live with purpose — seeking the eternal while savoring the permissible, and spreading goodness wherever you go. For indeed, Allah loves those who do good, and His love is the greatest treasure one can attain.

📜 Verse 75-79 — Al-Qasas

And We will extract from every nation a witness and say, "Produce your proof," and they will know that the truth belongs to Allah, and lost from them is that which they used to invent.
Indeed, Qarun was from the people of Moses, but he tyrannized them. And We gave him of treasures whose keys would burden a band of strong men; thereupon his people said to him, "Do not exult. Indeed, Allah does not like the exultant.
But seek, through that which Allah has given you, the home of the Hereafter; and [yet], do not forget your share of the world. And do good as Allah has done good to you. And desire not corruption in the land. Indeed, Allah does not like corrupters."
He said, "I was only given it because of knowledge I have." Did he not know that Allah had destroyed before him of generations those who were greater than him in power and greater in accumulation [of wealth]? But the criminals, about their sins, will not be asked.
So he came out before his people in his adornment. Those who desired the worldly life said, "Oh, would that we had like what was given to Qarun. Indeed, he is one of great fortune."
