Key Words and Meanings:

  • "Kharrū sujjadan" — They fall down prostrate, casting themselves upon their faces in humility and submission.
  • "Sabbahū bi-hamdi Rabbihim" — They glorify their Lord, declaring His perfection and praising Him, free from any flaw or deficiency.
  • "Lā yastakbirūn" — They do not show arrogance or pride; they do not deem themselves too great to bow in worship.

Explanation of the Verse:

This noble verse draws a beautiful and profound picture of true faith. Allah, the Most High, tells us that genuine belief in His signs—the verses of the Qur'an and the evidences of His power—is not merely a claim on the tongue. Rather, it is a reality that takes root in the heart and manifests in the limbs. The true believers are those who, when they are reminded of Allah's verses—whether through recitation, admonition, or witnessing His wonders in creation—respond with immediate humility. They fall down in prostration before their Lord, overcome with awe and reverence. In that state of submission, they glorify Him, declaring His perfection and praising Him for His countless blessings, especially the blessing of guidance. And crucially, they do not display arrogance. They do not turn away in pride, nor do they consider themselves too great to bow before their Creator. Their hearts are soft, their souls are humble, and their worship is sincere.

This verse also carries a gentle yet powerful call to every soul: faith is not a badge of honor to be worn, but a light that transforms. When the Qur'an is recited, does your heart tremble? When you are reminded of Allah, does your body hasten to obey? The believer's hallmark is this beautiful humility—a humility that leads to prostration, gratitude, and unwavering submission. It is an invitation to shed the heavy garment of pride and to taste the sweetness of standing before Allah, broken and lowly, yet lifted by His mercy.

A Call to Reflection and Action:

Dear reader, this verse is a mirror for your heart. Ask yourself: when you hear the words of your Lord, do they move you to action? Do they soften your soul? The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught us that the closest a servant comes to his Lord is while prostrating. In that moment, the barriers of ego fall, and the soul connects with its Maker. This is the path of the true believers—a path of humility, gratitude, and unwavering devotion. Let this verse inspire you to be among those who, upon hearing Allah's signs, fall in prostration, glorify His praise, and never grow arrogant. For such are the people of true faith, and their reward with their Lord is nothing less than Paradise.

📜 Verse 13-17 — As-Sajdah

And if We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me will come into effect [that] "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and people all together.
So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do."
Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant.
They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend.
And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
