Tafsir (Explanation):
Indeed, those who oppose Allah and His Messenger, who set themselves against the commands of their Lord and strive to resist the truth brought by the Prophet (peace be upon him), have been utterly disgraced and brought low — just as those who came before them from the disbelieving nations were disgraced and humiliated. The fate of those who waged war against Allah's messengers in the past serves as a timeless lesson: Pharaoh, ʿĀd, Thamūd, and others who rejected the truth were all subdued and destroyed, despite their power and arrogance.
Allah has sent down clear, unmistakable signs — the verses of the Qur'an and the miracles of His Messenger — that testify to the truth of everything the Prophet (peace be upon him) conveyed. These signs are manifest and self-evident; no sincere seeker of truth can deny them. Yet for those who persist in disbelief and reject these clear proofs, there awaits a humiliating punishment in the Fire — a punishment that will degrade them and expose their utter loss.
This verse carries a profound reassurance for the believers: the enmity of the disbelievers against the truth is futile. No matter how powerful they may seem, Allah's promise stands firm — those who oppose Him and His Messenger will always be brought low, just as their predecessors were. The history of nations is a witness to this divine law that never changes.
For the believer, this is an invitation to stand firm upon the truth with complete confidence, knowing that Allah defends His religion and His righteous servants. It is also a call to reflect on the clear signs of Allah — both in the Qur'an and in the universe — so that one's faith is built upon certainty, not blind imitation. And it is a reminder that the ultimate success belongs to those who submit to Allah and follow His Messenger, while loss and humiliation await those who turn away.
