The Tafsir (Explanation):
Imagine a day when every single human being — from the first to the last — is raised from the earth, no one left behind. On that awesome Day, Allah will gather them all in one vast plain and will inform them of everything they did in this worldly life, whether good or evil. Nothing will be missing, not even the weight of an atom.
The remarkable reality is that Allah has already counted and recorded every deed in the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuth) and in the scrolls of deeds that will be placed in each person's hand. Yet, the people themselves have forgotten what they did — they were careless, they didn't take their actions seriously, and they assumed no one was watching. But on that Day, they will find everything written before them, and they will be confronted with the truth they once ignored.
And Allah — Glorified and Exalted — is a Witness over all things. Nothing is hidden from Him: not a secret thought, not a hidden glance, not a silent step, not even the whisper of the heart. His knowledge encompasses everything, and His record never misses a single detail.
A Call to Reflection and Action:
Dear reader, this verse is a profound reminder that your life is not a forgotten story. Every prayer you offered, every kindness you showed, every tear you shed in private devotion, and every sin you committed in the dark — all of it is preserved with Allah. But here is the beautiful news: while your sins are recorded, Allah's mercy is even greater. He says in the Qur'an: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins'" (Az-Zumar 39:53).
So, do not be like those who forgot their deeds until the Day they meet them. Instead, be among those who remember their Lord, who seek His forgiveness before that Day arrives, and who turn every moment into an opportunity to earn His pleasure. The One who is a Witness over all things is also the One who loves to forgive, and His door of repentance is open until the final hour. Let this verse awaken your heart today — for tomorrow, the record will be presented, and the wise are those who prepare for that meeting with their Lord.
