Explanation of the Verse:
Allah addresses the believers with a gentle yet firm rebuke, asking them: Why do you say things you do not do? Why do you make promises you break, or claim deeds you never performed? This verse is a profound call to sincerity and integrity, urging every believer to align their words with their actions. It condemns hypocrisy in all its forms—whether it is promising to do good and then failing, or boasting about deeds one has not actually accomplished, like saying "I fought with my sword" when one never did. The verse serves as a mirror for the soul, reminding us that faith is not merely a matter of speech but a living reality that must be reflected in our conduct. It is a call to be people of truth, whose tongues and hearts are in harmony, and whose actions testify to the sincerity of their words. This divine admonition is a mercy, for it awakens the believer to self-accountability and inspires a relentless pursuit of consistency between what we profess and what we practice. Let this verse be a beacon for you, dear believer: let your words be few but your deeds many, and let your actions speak louder than your claims, for Allah loves those who fulfill what they promise and who strive to make their faith manifest in every step of their lives.
