Explanation of the Verse:

O you who have truly believed in Allah and His Messenger and who strive to live by His guidance — this is a direct and loving call from your Lord, urging you to take immediate action to protect yourselves and your families from the Fire.

Protecting yourselves means more than just avoiding sin; it means actively commanding your souls to obey Allah, performing what He has obligated, and abstaining from what He has forbidden. It is a continuous effort to purify your hearts, tongues, and limbs. As for your families, you are entrusted with their guidance. You must teach them the truth, discipline them with kindness and wisdom, and create an environment where faith flourishes — for you will be asked about them on the Day of Judgment.

The Fire you are being warned against is unlike anything you have ever seen. Its fuel is not wood or oil, but people — the rebellious and the disbelievers — and stones, specifically sulfurous rocks that burn with unbearable heat. This is a vivid image meant to shake the heart: imagine human beings themselves being the very fuel that keeps this fire raging.

Guarding this Fire are angels who are stern and mighty. They feel no pity for the wicked, and they possess immense strength to carry out their task. They are utterly obedient to Allah — they never disobey His command, and they execute whatever they are ordered with perfect precision and speed. There is no negotiation, no mercy for those who rejected the truth in this world.

This verse serves as a powerful reminder that faith is not merely a claim on the tongue; it is a responsibility. The believer’s duty is twofold: to save their own soul through sincere repentance and righteous deeds, and to save their household through teaching, advising, and setting a living example of Islam. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you is responsible for his flock." This verse echoes that beautiful guidance — you are the guardian of your home, and your family is your flock.

A Call to Action:

Dear believer, let this verse awaken your heart! The path to Paradise is paved with patience and taqwa (God-consciousness), and the path to the Fire is paved with heedlessness and sin. Do not let yourself be deceived by the temporary pleasures of this world. Begin today — pray with your family, teach your children the Qur’an, remind your spouse of Allah’s mercy and His punishment, and make your home a sanctuary of faith. Every effort you make to guide your loved ones is a treasure that will shine for you on the Day when neither wealth nor children will avail, except for those who come to Allah with a pure heart.

And know that Allah, the Most Merciful, does not ask of you what you cannot bear. He has made this religion easy, and He rejoices in your repentance. So turn to Him, seek His help, and strive — for the reward is Paradise, and the punishment is a Fire whose fuel is people and stones. Choose wisely, and may Allah protect us all from that terrible end.

📜 Verse 4-8 — At-Tahrim

If you two [wives] repent to Allah, [it is best], for your hearts have deviated. But if you cooperate against him - then indeed Allah is his protector, and Gabriel and the righteous of the believers and the angels, moreover, are [his] assistants.
Perhaps his Lord, if he divorced you [all], would substitute for him wives better than you - submitting [to Allah], believing, devoutly obedient, repentant, worshipping, and traveling - [ones] previously married and virgins.
O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded.
O you who have disbelieved, make no excuses that Day. You will only be recompensed for what you used to do.
O you who have believed, repent to Allah with sincere repentance. Perhaps your Lord will remove from you your misdeeds and admit you into gardens beneath which rivers flow [on] the Day when Allah will not disgrace the Prophet and those who believed with him. Their light will proceed before them and on their right; they will say, "Our Lord, perfect for us our light and forgive us. Indeed, You are over all things competent."
