Surah Al-Mursalat — Verse 36

Word Meanings:

• لَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ — They will not be granted permission.
• فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ — So that they might offer excuses.

Explanation of the Verse:

On that Day of Judgment, the deniers of truth will not be permitted to speak words that could benefit them, nor will they be allowed to offer any excuses for their disbelief and sins. The door of apology will be firmly closed before them, for they have no valid excuse to present. Their silence will be one of utter humiliation and regret, as they realize that every excuse they might muster is void and worthless before the justice of their Lord. They will not be granted the chance to plead, because their deeds have already borne witness against them, and the truth of their rejection stands undeniable.

A Da'wah Reflection:

This verse carries a profound lesson for every soul: the time for excuses is now, in this worldly life, not on the Day when all excuses will be rejected. Allah, in His infinite mercy, has opened the door of repentance wide for you today — He listens to your pleas, accepts your sincere return, and forgives your sins no matter how great they may be. Do not wait until that Day when the door will be shut forever and silence will replace speech. Seize this precious opportunity now: turn to your Lord with a humble heart, seek His forgiveness, and let your life be a living apology through righteous deeds. For on that Day, the only speech that will benefit is the testimony of faith and the good deeds you have sent forth. Let this verse awaken you from heedlessness — today you can speak, today you can repent, today you can change your course. Do not let tomorrow bring you to a place where excuses are no longer heard.
