Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Wayl (ويل): Destruction, ruin, severe punishment, and great loss.
- Yawma'idhin (يومئذ): On that Day — meaning the Day of Judgment.
- Lil-mukadhdhibin (للمكذبين): For those who deny — i.e., those who reject the truth, the resurrection, and the signs of Allah.
Explanation of the Verse:
This verse delivers a stern and powerful warning: "Woe on that Day to the deniers!" It refers to the Day of Judgment, the Day of Decision (Yawm al-Fasl), when all creation will be gathered before Allah. On that Day, those who denied the truth — who rejected the resurrection, the messengers, and the divine promises and warnings — will face utter destruction, painful punishment, and irreparable loss. There will be no escape for them, no intercessor to save them, and no way to turn back or make amends. The word "Wayl" conveys a profound sense of calamity and ruin, emphasizing the severity of what awaits those who stubbornly refused to believe despite clear signs and warnings. It is a day when every soul will reap what it sowed, and the deniers will find themselves in a state of total helplessness and regret.
A Call to Reflection and Faith:
This verse is not merely a threat — it is a mercy from Allah, a wake-up call before it is too late. Allah, in His infinite compassion, warns us now so that we may turn to Him before that Day arrives. He does not wish destruction for His servants; rather, He invites us to believe, to reflect, and to reform. The Quran repeatedly reminds us that this life is a test, and the Hereafter is the eternal reality. Every sign in the universe, every verse in the Book, and every prophet sent throughout history points to the truth of this message. So let this warning stir your heart: do not be among those who deny, but be among those who affirm, who submit, and who strive for the everlasting success of Paradise. The door of repentance is open, and Allah's mercy is vast — seize it before the Day when no soul will be able to help another, and when "Woe" will be the fate of the deniers. Choose faith, choose guidance, and choose the eternal bliss that awaits the believers.
