Translation — Tafsir

Word Meanings:

  • Kaid (كَيْد): A scheme, stratagem, or cunning plan; a device or trick employed to achieve an objective, especially to escape a difficult situation.

Tafsir (Explanation):

This verse is part of the discourse addressed to the disbelievers on the Day of Judgment, a day when Allah will separate all of creation and make the truth distinct from falsehood. On that day, the disbelievers of this nation will be gathered together with the disbelievers of earlier nations, and they will face the consequences of their denial and rebellion.

The verse challenges them with a stark, humbling call: *"If you have any scheme, then scheme against Me!"* It is a rhetorical challenge that strips them of all false confidence. If they truly possessed any power, any cunning, or any means to save themselves from the punishment and vengeance of Allah, they are invited to use it. But the reality is that on that Day, all their plots, alliances, and worldly strategies will fail utterly. No trick, no intercession, no escape route will avail them against the might of Allah.

This is a profound reminder that human cunning, no matter how clever or elaborate, is utterly powerless before the will of the Almighty. The disbelievers who once plotted against the truth in this world, who devised schemes to suppress the message of Islam and harm its followers, will find themselves completely helpless on that Day. Their "kaid" — which they once wielded with arrogance — will amount to nothing.

A Call to Reflection:

Dear reader, let this verse awaken your heart. If the mightiest schemers of history could not save themselves from Allah's decree, then where can anyone turn for refuge except to Him? The One who created you, who sustains you, and who will judge you — He alone deserves your worship and obedience. Do not wait until that Day when excuses will be rejected and schemes will fail. Turn to Allah now, in humility and sincerity, for His door of mercy is wide open in this life. Embrace Islam, submit your will to your Creator, and you will find a protection far greater than any scheme — the protection of Allah Himself, both in this world and in the Hereafter.
