Translation — Tafsir
Word Meanings:
- Lāghiyah (لَاغِيَةً): Any vain, worthless, or sinful speech; idle talk, falsehood, or obscene language.
Explanation of the Verse:
In this noble verse, Allah describes the blissful state of the believers in Paradise, saying that they will not hear therein any vain or sinful speech. The word "lāghiyah" encompasses all forms of worthless talk—be it lies, mockery, insults, or any word that carries no benefit. In Paradise, the atmosphere is one of complete purity and peace; no harmful or idle words will reach the ears of its inhabitants. This is a profound contrast to the worldly life, where people often encounter hurtful remarks, gossip, and falsehood. The verse assures the believers that their ultimate reward includes not only physical delights—such as flowing springs, elevated couches, prepared cups, arranged cushions, and spread-out carpets—but also the spiritual comfort of a flawless environment, free from any verbal harm or moral corruption.
A Da'wah Reflection:
This verse is a beautiful invitation to reflect on the nature of true happiness. Allah, in His infinite mercy, promises His righteous servants a place where even the smallest annoyance—like hearing a careless or hurtful word—will not exist. Imagine a life where every conversation brings joy, every word is wholesome, and every heart is at peace. This is the Paradise that Allah has prepared for those who strive in this world to guard their tongues, purify their hearts, and fill their days with acts of obedience. Let this verse inspire you to seek that eternal bliss by beautifying your own speech today. Speak only what is good, avoid vain talk, and remember that every word you utter in this life can either draw you closer to that serene Paradise or distance you from it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent." So, let us train ourselves now to be people of wholesome words, so that we may be among those who hear nothing but goodness in the everlasting gardens of delight.
