Surah Al-Layl — Verse 12

• Al-Hudā (ٱلْهُدَىٰ): Guidance; the clear explanation and demonstration of the path that leads to truth, righteousness, and Allah’s pleasure, as opposed to the path of misguidance and error.

Tafsir (Explanation):

Allah, the Most High, declares in this noble verse: "Indeed, upon Us is [to provide] guidance." This is a profound statement of divine mercy and wisdom. It means that it is Allah’s duty, out of His grace and justice, to make the path of truth distinct from the path of falsehood. He does not leave humanity in confusion or darkness; rather, He sends messengers, reveals scriptures, and instills in every soul the innate ability to discern right from wrong. This guidance is not forced upon anyone—rather, Allah clarifies the way to His Paradise and His pleasure, and equally makes clear the way of misguidance and ruin, leaving the choice to each individual. Furthermore, this verse reminds us that Allah alone owns and controls both this worldly life and the Hereafter; He is the Sovereign who directs all affairs, and His guidance is the greatest blessing He bestows upon His creation.

Da‘wah (Invitation to Reflect and Act):

Dear reader, ponder this magnificent promise: your Creator has taken it upon Himself to guide you. He has not abandoned you to wander aimlessly in the darkness of ignorance. Every prophet sent, every verse revealed, and every moment of clarity in your heart is a sign of His care for you. This is an invitation to open your eyes and heart to the truth that is already before you. When you feel lost, remember that Allah has already illuminated the way—you only need to take the first step toward Him. Seek His guidance sincerely, and He will never leave you without light. The path to eternal success is clear, and the choice is yours. Will you not respond to the One who has promised to show you the way?
